Understanding what is often unseen, misunderstood or hard to talk about.
In keeping with the ethos of Samajhna, meaning understanding, I am particularly drawn to working with experiences that can feel unseen, misunderstood or difficult to put into words.
Although the experiences themselves may be very different, they often share a common thread: feeling that others don't fully understand what you're carrying, or struggling to make sense of it yourself.
The areas below reflect some of the themes I have a particular interest and experience in. They aren't the only reasons people come to therapy, but they offer a glimpse into the work I find especially meaningful.
Identity, Culture & Belonging
Questions of identity and belonging are often shaped by our culture, faith, values and life experiences. Therapy can provide space to explore these different parts of yourself, helping you better understand who you are and what matters most to you.
Together we might explore:
Cultural identity
Intersectional identity
Questions of belonging
Navigating multiple cultures
Faith, spirituality and personal values
Navigating multiple identities
Self-acceptance and authenticity
Shame and self-criticism
Finding your own voice
Living in alignment with your values
Areas of focus
While I work with a wide range of concerns, these are some of the experiences I have a particular interest in working with.
Family Roles, Expectations & Transitions
Supporting people as they navigate changing family roles, expectations and relationships. From stepping into a new family to setting boundaries or adjusting to life's transitions, therapy can provide space to explore experiences that can feel complex, emotionally demanding or difficult to talk about.
Together we might explore:
Adjusting to a new family role (including the daughter-in-law transition)
Changing family roles and responsibilities
Family expectations and obligations
Difficult in-law relationships
Feeling caught between different generations
Estrangement and family cut-offs
Setting and maintaining boundaries
People-pleasing and guilt
Caring responsibilities
Navigating loyalty, independence and change
Chronic, Rare & Invisible Health Conditions
Living with a long-term health condition can affect far more than physical health. Therapy can provide space to explore the emotional impact of living with chronic, rare or invisible health conditions, particularly when your experiences feel misunderstood or difficult for others to fully see.
Together we might explore:
Adjusting to a diagnosis
Living with uncertainty
Anxiety about symptoms or the future
Medical trauma or difficult healthcare experiences
Grief for the life you expected
Changes in identity or confidence
Fatigue and balancing daily life
Feeling misunderstood
Relationships and family dynamics
Work, purpose and future plans
